Exchange & Return

What's your Exchange & Return Policy?

We gladly accept exchanges or returns of unworn, unwashed and unaltered merchandise in its original packaging within 30 days of your order date. Please note shipping charges are non-refundable and a $10 restocking fee per order applies. Returns will be refunded in the original method of payment. Do not send item(s) back without obtaining a return authorization as your package may be sent back to you. Once we receive your merchandise, please allow 5-7 business days for us to process your refund or exchange (additional shipping time not included). Please note Gift Cards, Accessories, and Buy for Brother-in-Need donations are FINAL SALE and cannot be refunded.

How do I go about a return or exchange?

We keep things easy. For all applicable items, you can request a return or exchange through our Contact page or simply email us at This is how you will get your return authorization to send your item(s) back. Just remember to thoroughly review our Exchange and Return Policy before starting an exchange or return.

If I return my shoes, does Brethren take a pair away from a brother-in-need?

Never! The shoes that are sent out for donation only go out after a customer’s 30-day return policy has passed. This allows us to confidently set aside the number of pairs of shoes that can be counted toward our donation program. Once shoes are given to a brother-in-need, they are his shoes and we would never take them back… Ever.


Where do you ship?

We ship to all 50 states in the U.S. Sorry, we don’t ship internationally at this time.

Do you ship to P.O. Boxes?

Only through USPS.

Where are you located?

We're headquartered in the sun and surf of good ol’ Los Angeles, California.

Why do you only donate to men experiencing homelessness in the US?

Currently, we only carry men’s shoes, so our donations mostly go to brothers-in-need. However, some of our more gender neutral shoes also go to sisters-in-need. In terms of locale, we chose to keep our donations local for now because we wanted to first help folks right here in our own backyard before going overseas.

Do you only work with shelters in California or nationwide?

Even though we’re directly working with a few California based homeless social services agencies, through our partner, Soles4Souls, we’re also able to reach shelters throughout the U.S. that have partnered with them. If you‘re a shelter or an organization that outfits folks experiencing homelessness and would be interested in partnering with us, we’d love to hear from you! Please email us at

What makes Brethren different from other buy-one give-one companies?

First and foremost, our buy-one give-one model isn’t a marketing stunt—it’s part of who we are and how we see the world. We’re not using it to jack up the price of our products to profit from our customers. In fact, we keep our prices down because we want to treat our customers like our own brothers. And no, we don’t skimp on quality to do it either. It’s a difference you can see and feel in our shoes.

Secondly, we serve a very specific demographic—men experiencing homelessness in the U.S. As much as we’d like to help the entire world, let’s first help our neighbors and those around us. Once our own community is taken care of, then we’ll expand into other communities.

Thirdly, we make sure to keep you in the loop with your donation. Rather than ending at checkout, you will receive a confirmation email 6-8 weeks after your purchase with the name and location of the shelter where your donation is distributed.

Do your shoes run true to size?

All shoes fit a little differently, but the shoes we carry tend to run fairly true to size so please order the size you wear the most.  

Are your shoes animal-friendly (vegan)?

With the exception of some of the older models of the heel pull tabs on certain boots, our shoes do not contain leather. So yes, the majority of our shoes are animal-friendly.

Will you add more brands and styles of men’s shoes?

Do you carry women's shoes?

We currently do not carry women’s shoes, but that may change as we evolve our capabilities.
